Firewood hauling Jeep and boggy backyards |

This picture was taken from the back deck of a friend of mine's house. He was clearing out his back yard and I had offered to help to get the firewood. You can't really tell from this picture but his backyard is below a big hill. You can see this better in the next picture. I had already been down there with a big chipper hooked to the back of the Jeep. You can see the pile of chips that my son, Stephen, is sitting on behind the Jeep. This was my third trip into the bottom. Once with the chipper and this was the second time with the trailer. |

As you can see the third time was the charm. It
would not have happened had I not got the trailer tongue caught on a stump.
I gave it some gas to hop over the stump and the Jeep slid sideways.
This put the big stump you see right in front of the trailer between
the trailer and the Jeep. Not good. As I backed up and pulled
up several times trying to get the trailer around the stump I succeeded in
burying the back wheel that you see. I borrowed the guy's power saw
and cut the stump off level with the ground. I then hooked the winch
to a big tree and pulled myself out with not problem. Thanks goodness
for a good winch. |
