Welcome to my turkey hunting page. This is
my Mom's dad, Pa Pa Dunn, and me at 11 months old with a wiley gobbler that my Pa Pa took
down. So you can see that I was introduced to the sport of turkey hunting at an
early age. I can remember the main thing that my Pa Pa said about killing
turkeys. He said, "Son, the best time to kill a turkey is when you are looking
at him." I interpretated that to mean during turkey season, however I don't
think he really meant that. Well, turkey season 2002 is in full swing. Already the Top Gun, aka Doug Scott, has jumped into the lead with an amazing two birds on two hunts spree. The pressure is on the rest of the Turkey Terminating Squad to try and match the luck of the Master Blaster himself. Check out the scoreboard occasionally to see how well we are doing. Or how badly.
Stephen has shown an interest in turkey hunting this year but he doesn't understand why we have to get up while it is still dark. That just doesn't make sense to him. He hasn't been with me yet. The other day I came back from a hunt and was taking my camoflage off when he woke up and came into the room. He said, "Daddy, you going turkey hunting?" Needless to say, he was surprized that I had already finished hunting for the day. I plan on taking him one Saturday though after I have come back from hunting for the day. Then just go back out into the woods with him again and call it hunting.
