Does and a spike came in and they messed around and left. They all came back later, at different times, messed around, then left. Around 4:30, a button buck came into the field. Then two does. One was huge. The three grazed and grazed. It was now 5:15, the light was about gone. I decided to search the tree lines one more time with the binocs. Thats when I saw it. A nose and several golden prongs just barely extending past the thicket line about 150 yards from my stand. I picked up my 270, and tried to scope him, but he had moved from the thicket to behind some brush heading for the field. When he entered the field, I was ready. I sighted him in, and squezed the trigger - oops, in my excitement, I had left the safety on. He must have smelled the does because he now began moving faster toward them. I got him in the cross hairs, and pulled the trigger. Yep - pulled - I jerked and missed. He stood there just long enough for me to reload. The does turned and began running, and so did my buck. I got him in the scope again, moved just in front of him and this time, I squeezed the trigger. I saw him kick as he and the does ran into the woods. I felt I had gotten him this time. I quickly cleared my
stand and headed to where he had entered the woods. I found him about
15 yards from where he had entered. He is a beautiful 160# symmetrical
