AFRICAN CHILDRENS MISSION
Ministering to Children in East
Africa
African Childrens
Mission, Inc. (ACM) is an Interdenominational
Christian Mission Organization based in Birmingham, Alabama. It is
operated under the direction of the African Childrens Mission
Board and Wayne and Mary Daniel, field missionaries to East Africa
and founders of the mission. It is a faith ministry which is funded
by churches, groups and individuals in the US and East Africa. The
mission operates childrens ministries in Kenya and Uganda.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission and purpose of African
Childrens Mission is to reach out to children in destitute
circumstances, both physically and with the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
to enable them to grow and develop in a secure environment, using
Christian values and principles as the foundation of its ministry
and programs, guiding them into a responsible, productive life, and
discipling them through word and example.
HISTORY OF AFRICAN CHILDRENS MISSION
God gave Wayne Daniel the vision
of a Christian home for street children when he visited Meru, Kenya,
in 1989. He returned to Kenya with his wife, Mary, for three months
in 1990. They became resident field missionaries in September 1991,
and established a ministry for orphaned, abandoned, homeless and destitute
children in Meru. The ministry in Meru began to evolve in February
1994, from an institution (orphanage) to the family home concept,
which is still in use today. The children live with family members
or in a home with foster parents who provide a traditional family
environment. They are cared for with financial assistance from ACM.
As of January 1, 2007 the ministry supports 373 children in Kenya
and Uganda. The number of children assisted by ACM continues to grow
each year. African Childrens Mission was formed in February
1996, as a support base in the US to facilitate fundraising for the
ministrys work. The board of this registered, non-profit mission
organization provides financial and spiritual accountability for the
ministry and its missionaries.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
African Childrens Mission
is a faith ministry, funded solely by churches, small groups,
and individuals. A faith ministry relies upon God to supply all needs
through the prayers and gifts of men and women who become ministry
partners, working together to accomplish Gods purposes.
Each missionary with African Childrens Mission is responsible
for raising his/her support through his/her financial partners.
Childrens needs are met through financial support, which comes
from sponsors in partnership with African Childrens Mission.
A sponsorship partner may be an individual, a church, or any other
group who wishes to sponsor a child.
STEWARDSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY
The Board and Missionaries of African
Childrens Mission are dedicated to serving with integrity and
accountability. We know that you expect us to be good stewards of
the funds that are given sacrificially to help needy children
and to advance the Kingdom of God. We expect nothing less of ourselves
and operate with integrity and accountability as primary goals of
the organization.
A minimum of 80% of child sponsorship funds is used in the field
in support of the children sponsored. Other financial gifts are used
in support of your missionaries, their physical and evangelistic ministries,
and children without sponsors. No more than 20% of child sponsorship
funds is used on administration and fund-raising.
An annual audit statement is prepared by an independent accounting
firm and submitted to state and federal authorities. An annual financial
report is made available to all supporters and financial partners.
